Faithful who celebrate the Liturgy of Hours unite with Christ, our High Priest, through the prayer of psalms, reflection on the Word of God, hymns, and praise, to join His constant and universal prayer, which glorifies the Father and implores the gift of the Holy Spirit for the whole world. (CCC 1196)

The Liturgy of Hours should become the prayer of the entire People of God. In it, Christ himself "continues his priestly work through his Church" - everyone participates in it according to their place in the Church and the circumstances of life: priests as they carry out pastoral ministry, for they are called to faithful perseverance in prayer and serving the Word; religious brothers and sisters through the charism of their consecrated life; all the faithful according to their abilities. "Pastors should strive to celebrate the main Hours with the participation of the faithful in churches on Sundays and solemnities, especially Vespers. It is recommended that even lay people recite the breviary either with priests, at their gatherings, or even individually". (CCC 1175)
